Scholarships

Since we were founded as a credit union for teachers, we proudly support the educational efforts of our members and their families. We participate in several scholarship programs throughout the year. We’ll post them on this page when they’re accepting applications.

 


$1000 CCSEFCU’s Annual Scholarship Program

To be used at any accredited college or university.
(Check will be made payable to the college or university)

This scholarship program is for CCSEFCU members only. Students may join the credit union and then apply. All students in the Cecil County Public School System, Tome School, and Tri-State Academy are eligible for membership.

Guidelines: for upcoming college students. To enter‚ the student must:
  • be and/or become a member of CCSEFCU
  • be a high school senior
  • have a GPA of 2.5 or above
  • submit a two page double-spaced essay on the topic: "As a credit union member, explain why someone should choose a credit union as their primary financial institution over alternative service providers, such as for-profit banks"
All essays must be forwarded to the credit union at 203 Booth Street, Elkton, MD by April 7, 2017 for a decision to be made by May 15, 2017. $12,000 College Scholarship Awards Program

The Credit Union Foundation MD/DC is pleased to announce a college scholarship program to help your college-bound credit union members meet their tuition costs.

The $12,000 Credit Union College Scholarship Program for 2017 is underway now! College-bound members of any Maryland or District of Columbia-based credit union are eligible to apply for the ten $1,000 essay-based scholarships, one $1,000 video-based scholarship, and one $1,000 photo-based scholarship.

This year’s essay topic is:

“As a credit union member, explain why someone should choose a credit union as their primary financial institution over alternative service providers, such as for-profit banks”

This year’s video topic is:

“Create a 60-second advertisement targeted specifically at a younger viewer (under the age of 30) that highlights
the benefits of credit union membership”

Applying in the photo-essay category?

Photographers are invited to capture an original photograph that represents the credit union core value ““Respectful.”

Any member of a Maryland or D.C.-based credit union who is entering their freshmen through senior year of college or trade school may apply.

2016 Scholarship Winner

Cecil County School Employees’ Federal Credit Union is pleased to grant this year’s $1,000 essay scholarship to
Anthony Wasko, a senior at Rising Sun High School. This fall, Anthony will be attending Widener University in Chester, PA, where he plans on majoring in Business Administration with concentrations in both Management and Operations Management. He also plans to pursue a Master’s Degree. The Credit Union’s board and staff congratulate Mr. Wasko and wish him much success in his future endeavors.
